In incidents like this, having up-to-date, working smoke detectors on every floor of a home is essential for the safety of residents. Smoke detectors provide early warnings of a fire, giving people crucial time to escape and alerting emergency responders. It’s important to test smoke detectors monthly, replace batteries regularly, and ensure they are installed on every level of the home, including basements and hallways near sleeping areas. A functioning smoke detector can be the difference between life and death in the event of a fire.
