At 17:00 on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the Eggertsville Hose Company was dispatched to a reported house fire on Emerson Drive in the northern section of the fire district. Chiefs from Eggertsville arrived at the scene by 17:03, confirming a working fire. Crews from Engine 3 deployed two 1.75-inch hose lines into the front door and quickly extinguished all visible flames.
During the operation, four dogs and seven cats were successfully rescued from the structure. All residents received treatment from Twin City Ambulance. The fire was declared under control at 17:26. Damages are estimated at $150,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Town of Amherst Fire Investigation Office.
