Two Alarms
The Eggertsville Hose Company responded to the 200 Block of Windermere Boulevard just after 2:00am this morning for the reported vehicle fire near a garage.
Upon arrival Eggertsville Chiefs confirmed a fire, which has spread to the garage with heavy involvement. Multiple exposures including the house on this property (a large two family house), a second large single family house, a garage to the rear, a garage in an adjacent property, and a shed in an adjacent property. A second alarm was requested at this time by Eggertsville Command.
Eggertsville Engine 2 arrived on location, and advanced a line to the rear of the house to begin fire suppression. Crews were met with very heavy fire conditions, but were able to knock down a majority of the fire, ultimately reducing the risk of further exposure damage. All nearby homes and structures were checked, and the fire was placed under control at 2:45am.
Damages were listed at $350,000.
The fire is under investigation with the Amherst Fire Inspectors Office, and the Amherst Police Department.
