Joint Training with North Amherst and Wendelville Fire Departments
Last week, our members had the opportunity to participate in a joint training with North Amherst Fire Department and Wendelville Fire Department. The focus of the drill was vehicle stabilization using Paratech struts, and it proved to be a valuable and hands-on learning experience for everyone involved.
Representatives from Paratech joined us to demonstrate various stabilization techniques — including how to safely secure vehicles that had rolled over on their side or their roof. We even worked through a complex scenario where one car was positioned up on the hood of another. After stabilizing both vehicles, we used a Paratech airbag system to lift them, simulating a real-world rescue situation involving a victim trapped underneath.
The training was hosted by North Amherst Fire Department, and we’re very grateful for their hospitality and for including us in this excellent learning opportunity. While we regularly train with our neighboring companies, it’s not often we get to work alongside departments from a little farther away — and it was great to share techniques and ideas with some new faces. North Amherst capped off the night with a great dinner, making the evening even better.
