Tonight’s drill was all about vehicle extrication.
With a lot of new members on board, we focused on the fundamentals—how to properly stabilize a vehicle, remove a door, open a hood, disconnect a battery, and most importantly, how to protect a patient trapped inside while working to free them.
Once everyone had a handle on the basics, we moved on to more advanced techniques like dashboard rolls, which help create space between the dashboard or steering column and the patient.
Every member had the chance to get hands-on with all of our extrication tools: spreaders, cutters, rams, sawzalls, glass cutters, Halligans, cribbing, axes—you name it. Great turnout and solid work by the crew tonight!
Huge thank you to United Auto for generously allowing us to use their space and providing two vehicles for us to train on. Your support makes a big difference in helping us stay sharp and ready to respond.
